Climate change

Changes in the atmospheric indices commonly referred to as Climate change continue to impact people in several ways. Changes in rainfall patterns and intensity, extreme changes in weather conditions and rise in see level, intensity of sunshine are some of the common effects of climate change.

The effects of climate change are fundamental to the stability of the natural ecosystem the human economies and cultures that depend on them. In recent times, particularly from the beginning of the 21st century, the effects of climate change have become very devastating and poses a great challenge to activities such as faming, fishing, and all other activities that depend on the weather.

The effect of climate transcends geographical and national frontiers, thus, tackling climate change require a global strategy. That notwithstanding, different countries and sub regions have adopted different solutions and activities that works for them. Every nation has a duty to reduce pollution and embrace conservation and sustainability measure at its level for the world to make significant progress in reducing the effects of climate change.

One of the biggest contributory factors to climate change is air pollution and climate. The main sources of CO2 emissions – the extraction and burning of fossil fuels and industrial activities – are not only drivers of climate change but also major sources of air pollution. Furthermore, many air pollutants that are harmful to human health have significant impacts on climate. These so called Short-lived Climate Pollutants (SCLPs) include methane, black carbon, ground-level ozone and fluorinated gases. Air pollution is currently the world’s leading environmental risk to human health, accounting for up to 7 million premature deaths annually.

Ecofocus assists private entities, industries, governments to fashion out appropriate or place relevant climate change and air quality policies and legal frameworks. We do this based on the country strategic plans and available resources.
